Tonight we went out to the Verizon Store, then to Barnes & Noble, and finally over to Comp USA. I really wanted to check out the new Vista laptops and see what all the fuss was about.

We checked out some sweet units and I won’t lie Vista looked pretty sweet compared to the crappy XP that we all are running right now. Glossy everything, motion fading windows, everything seemed to just gleam with ease and was very visually appealing. BUT!

As we were walking around, we strolled over to the Apple section of the store. We stopped in front of the 24 inch iMac they had. On the screen already was the quick picture taker. With the built in camera it’s really easy and fun to take some random shots. Just click and picture taken, simple! Then we just messed around with all of the gadgets or widgets as they like to be called. Vista thought of the creative “gadgets”. After all of the playing around with both systems I really came away with a real liking of the Mac over the Vista.

I still felt boxed in to the Vista program. It just didn’t have the same look and ease of use as the Mac did. On the Mac everything was so simple. I actually had a hard time doing things on the Mac at first, but luckily Reena was there to show me. The tasks to do something were so obvious that after having been a Windows user my entire life I’m used to holding something down and clicking, or right clicking or whatever. I was amazed at how simple it was.

As far as the systems go if I were to purchase a computer right now I would definitely go with a Mac. I know how the restrictions apply to Macs and such, but what I need a computer for a Mac does all of those things just like Windows. I know there’s limited software and such for Macs but I don’t need those programs to begin with. I first played with the Vista computers then with the Macs and when I went back to the Vistas it just seemed like I was back in Windows 3.1.

I want to hear everyone else’s opinion on what they prefer, Mac or Windows? Don’t get into the technicalities of everything. Just want to hear about general use and visual appeal.
