Great Songs From Great Concerts
By: Brett
Leland and I went to a pretty sweet concert this weekend. There were a couple bands we were familiar with, and then one that seemed to be the crowd favorite that we didn’t. One of the bands we went to go see, didn’t disappoint, the other did. In all it was a good concert, filled with loads of “NO” kids. “NO” is what they put in big black permanent letters on the hands of kids under 21. I’m not sure if it’s for the bartenders or predators. Anyways, while sitting around after the concert, Leland and I were trying to come up with the best concert ever. Who would play, if only for one song.. and you could choose 10 bands.
Obviously the time it takes to change stage doesn’t matter, just 10 of your best concert songs from your favorite bands, or not so favorite bands. It’s all about concert experience. I have seen bands that totally rock on stage, but suck otherwise.. or even bands that sound awesome on their CD then totally blow live (more often).
Here is my list, in no specific order:
Days Away - Keep Your Voices Down
MXPX - The Darkets Places
Armor For Sleep - Dream To Make Believe
Less Than Jake - Look What Happened
Taking Back Sunday - Cute Without The “E”
Receiving End of Sirens - Planning A Prison Break
Fall Out Boy - The Patron Saint of Liars and Fakes
Alexisonfire - Accidents
Matchbook Romance - Promise
Moneen - Start Angry…And Mad
Those are probably the most memorable songs from concerts that I have been too. I’m sure I have missed a couple and Leland will be able to add to this list.. but I’d like to hear of other great songs from great concerts.

Apparently everyone else is older than 14 and don’t go to concerts anymore.. that’s fine.

Ummmm…I have only heard of one of those bands. Apparently your underground (or above ground) music doesn’t parallel mine : P

Oh man where to begin. Brett and i have been going to concerts for a while now (First was Moneen, Taking Back Sunday and Saves the Day) and it is always fun to have a couple or ten PBRs and try to relive our most memorable concerts. So here it goes my list:
11. Wheatus (Teenage Dirtbag) Had to include this
10. Brandston (Mexico)
9. Hidden in Plain View (Garden Statement)
8. The Matches (Chain me free)
7. The Early November (Baby Blue)
6. Starting Line (The best of me)- if only for the vaseline
5. New Found Glory (Hit or Miss)
4. The Receiving End of Sirens (Planning a Prison Break)
3. Taking Back Sunday (Cute without the E, cut from the team)
2. Senses Fail (One Eight Seven)
1. Saves the Day (rocks tonic juice magic
I could really have done a top forty. I have been able to see a lot of great shows, some sober, some a little drunk and some a lot drunk. I think the best part has seeing them is seeing them with Brett (ahhh the most touching moment on this site ever). I truly wish i could transplant other people to Tampa just so they could experience what Brett and I have the last three plus years.

Very touching Leeks.. I totally agree though. I think those concerts we went to up in MN were awesome cause we had a group of people that went.. we all almost died that day though.. standing out in sub 20 degree weather for 3 hours, but those concerts were just awesome to see Joe Joe moshing with 13 year olds.
I can’t think of one concert that I have hated though, cause every time a crappy band comes on stage.. Leeks and I usually just head to the bar and drink enough to where they actually sound good.. then the rest of the concert is a blast. Concerts are fun and all but it wouldn’t be the same if your best friend wasn’t there to experience it with you.

Carrie, even though we might not share the same infinity for music.. Would definitely like to still hear your top ten.. You can include CK’s performance of “Build Me Up Buttercup”.. cause that was a great concert. Not sure if I was there, might have been a year before my time.. but I’ve heard it a few times since.. priceless.
