Bad News = Bright Future
By: Brett
Today I got the dreaded meeting with the Coordinator and I was released from the Washington Nationals. I had spent the entire Spring on the training table with an illness then a strained shoulder. I never threw against a hitter or put into any type of game situation. I was given the excuse that there wasn’t going to be enough room for me in Extended Spring so it was a numbers thing and I had to be let go.
The reason that is complete BS is that, there isn’t a set number for Extended Spring. They can have however many guys they want in Extended. I would have accepted an honest answer a lot better than some half ass excuse to let me go. I would also feel better about the situation if I had actually been able to show them what I can do.
But all is not lost for me. I’m going to explore some other options for baseball and now I am given some time to wrap up all of my free lance jobs and also start exploring some other jobs as well. I am very excited about what is to come in my life and I am very grateful for having the opportunity to play the game that I love. It has been a long hard battle but I enjoyed every minute of it. I have no bad feelings or feelings of regret for the game. I worked really hard to get to this point and I am very proud of my accomplishments in this game. I would like to thank everyone that has supported me throughout my career and let you all know that you were the ones the kept me going during those long days of mindless batting practice and rain delays.
On a side note, if anyone is looking for a Web Developer/Designer I have many years of cutting and pasting. I even have a degree to prove how well I can cut and paste. Ctrl-C Ctrl-V.

haha, tommy and i make a pretty decent living cutting and pasting.
it sucks how you were let go, but it sounds like you have a good attitude about it. i think know a few guys that would have loved to have the chance to play pro ball
so i’m glad to hear you don’t have any regrets.
you are really talented - not just in baseball - and i know whatever you decide to do, you’ll do great.

Hey I heard this morning that there is a professional video bowling league. Maybe we can join together.
