On Saturday I threw for the St. Pete Saints of the Clearwater/Tampa League.. we played the New York Yankees.. no wait, the Clearwater Yankees. I could’ve sworn I saw David Wells though.. must’ve been some other white trash drunk. We were up 20-0 in the bottom of the sixth or seventh, not quite sure because the game was so slow, our guys were literally walking around the bases. So anyways, I go out there for one inning. My arm is killing me by the way, but I still try to throw like it’s game 7 of the Clearwater League World Series. I get the first guy to pop up to second. The next two guys hit missle rods back up the middle, one almost killing our shortstop.

With guys on 2nd and 3rd I get the next batter 1-2 and he just swung through a fastball. I figure well I will try to hump this one up a little more and see if I can throw it by him again. Well I don’t quite get the extension that I wanted and the ball lodges into the guys rib cage. He flails to the ground. His buddy standing on Third comes running in and gives me a “Up by 20 runs and you want to hit guys..” I’m like, if I had that good of control would I be playing in this game douche. So Now it’s bases loaded with one out. I throw the next ball sailing to the back stop to blow the shut out and then go on to strike the next two Dads out.

On the next field over, a guy was ejected and apparently got a 6 game suspension. They determine how many games you get suspended for by the number of F-Bombs you say I believe. The guy was F-in this and F-in that on his way back to his Mini-van. He gave his baby’s momma a kiss and padded his kid on the head and left the field with dignity.

I love playing in this league. The guy on the team I’m with are great. We have a great time during each game and they take it seriously enough to make it competitive but at the same time not serious enough to where it’s almost comical. I could see myself playing in this league until I’m about 55 years old, then I think I have to change to a different league. Just judging by the last team we played.
